Guitar Chord Charts
Let's start with some basic tips on how to read Guitar Chord Charts.
There are six strings, they are numbered from 1 to 6. 1 is the highest sounding string (high E), and 6 would be the lowest (low E).
The guitar frets are also numbered in each diagram. In general (not always), you should make sure that your finger is as close to the fret as possible without actually touching fret. This ensure that the string does not buzz or sound muffled when played.
If you browse online and in several publications you will find that the charts are displayed with a number surrounded by a circle. This means that your finger assigned to that number should be used to press that string. In many cases, in barre chords for example, a single number may appear multiple times.
We recommend that when reading the charts, look at the closely. Take your time positioning your fingers until they are the same as instructed. Also, when you are strumming the chords listen carefully and check for how they sound.
