E Minor Chord

The E Minor Chord is very likely the easiest chord you will learn how to play. It is probably the first chord that anybody (instructor, websites, books, how to guides, etc.) will teach you to play.

It is very easy to get and, quite frankly you shouldn't have no problems on getting it right. It is just like hitting an E but with one less finger.

The E Minor Chord is found by lowering the 3rd step of the E Major Scale (G) a 1/2 step to an 'G'. The E Minor Chord is one of the easiest chords you will ever learn to play and also one of the most beautiful sounding ones.

This chord is what is called a OPEN GUITAR CHORD, because it involves a combination of both open strings and some strings being played on certain frets. The main difficulty you might be encountering while learning to play the E Minor Chord, or ANY chord for that matter, is making a transition from one chord to another, for a beginner just starting to play the guitar, and during their first lessons the will be the first obstacle the will need to sort out. But, as with anything you will attempt while learning to play the guitar the only way to get past this is by practicing several times until you are able to do it.

A simple tip for you is that you must prevent your fingers from muting other strings, move your thumb to get the best location that will provide a more comfortable position. Keep in mind that, in playing the guitar, what matters most is whats most effective to you, if it allows you to play just fine and it feels right, then that's probably the best way for you. In other words, if it works for you, then its fine.

But we have no doubt that the E Minor Chord shouldn't be any problem at all.
