E7 Chord

Position your fingers like a regular E Chord, now remove your third finger, Now you have a E7 Chord. It's THAT simple.

Granted it could be a bit tricky to some. Specially to get the 4th string to sound out the way it should. The main thing with this chord is that you know how to get it right and get a natural feel to it. A tip we can recommend is that you use just the tips of your first and third fingers.

A small cheat some players have is that they leave their E Chord as normal, then they add their fourth finger on the third fret on the 2nd string. A helpful alternative that you are more than welcome to try out.

This chord is pretty straightforward and if you compare it to the other chords we have learned so far, it shouldn't pose much of a challenge. Any difficulty you might notice in it can be easily overcome with practice.

The E7 Chord is also a very used chord found in many types of music. Some people have the philosophy that to learn these chords the best way is to learn a song that has them, and practice it constantly. This has been effective but it can be confusing and might skip some important steps you will need to learn first. While it might seem more fun than to simple practice a chord over and over again, the main drawback of this method is that you might get confused when learning other chords. Versus practicing, whose main advantage is that when you learn the chord you will KNOW the chord by heart and will get the other chords you learn with far more ease. Remember, the short route it might not be the best choice every time.

Once you are ready and feel comfortable with the E7 Chord, go ahead and move to the next lesson.
