How to hold your guitar
The first thing you need to know before you learn to play guitar, is how to hold your guitar. We recommend that you find a suitable place. It's better if you're sitting down, it is also important to feel comfortable and to have the proper posture while playing your guitar, so you don't strain your back.
Once you've pick the right spot, pick up your guitar and place it against your stomach with the guitar's neck pointing to your left and the guitar's body resting on your right thigh. Now just position your right arm around the body of the guitar so it is laying by the strings and your left hand around the guitar's neck.
Now that you found the perfect spot and both your arms are around the guitar is time to place your fingers in the right position. If your right-handed your left hand's fingers should be pressing down on the strings on the fret board. The curved back of the neck allows your hand to mold although is also ok to press your thumb into the back of the guitar's neck . If your a left-handed you have two options re-string the guitar so the order of the strings is reversed or get a left-handed guitar.
For the chords that you will learn to play here, it is important that you only use your fingertips on the strings. When your are constructing a chord if any other part of your finger is touching the strings, the chord will come out muffled or muted. In some cases you might have to use your entire finger.
Finally we have the right hand. You will use this hand to strum the strings and play the different chords. If you are doing it the correct way your right bicep should be on top of the guitar's body and your hand should be directly above the sound hole of the guitar. This part is the most resonant part of the guitar. Now you are one step closer to learn how to play guitar.
