Why do video-based guitar lessons work best?At iPlayMusic we spent many months researching current guitar instruction products and found most did not serve the needs of the beginner guitarist. Most beginners simply want to play a few songs on their guitar with family and friends. For kids (and their parents) most want a fun way to learn how to make the guitar sound good and become comfortable learning and playing. We found that most print-only, print / audio and private lessons simply do not help the beginner have fun with their guitar. Most of these learning products focus on music theory, notes and scales- not songs. In our research our customers made it very clear how they wanted to learn- by seeing and doing and having fun. Numerous studies have found that more than two-thirds of people prefer to learn visually, so we at iPlayMusic focus on video. Most people have fun playing songs, not practicing scales or charting notes, so we at iPlayMusic focus on songs. Our guitar videos provide a series of basics and then get users right into lessons that teach them to play songs right away. iPlayMusic videos take the next step and provide “karaoke-style” play-along guitar videos that teach you to play the whole a song and then provide the background music so you can truly perform a song. iPlayMusic products also allow user to learn at their own pace and their own style. Our guitar lessons can be experienced in a “step-by-step” lesson format- or by going directly to a “karaoke-style” play-along segment. Guitarists can easily repeat segments or move to the next part of their lesson. Video-based guitar lessons simply allow a level of user control that print books and audio cannot. Do video lessons completely remove the need for private instruction? Not entirely. If you desire to learn music theory or aspire to become a professional, we highly suggest you pursue private instruction. We do suggest however that beginners start at home with video-based lessons to truly gauge their interest in guitar, and also allow themselves some fun. Our customer feedback suggests that iPlayMusic song-based video lessons will enhance and augment any form of private instruction. We spent hundred of hours talking with beginner guitarists (and often their parents) to discover their needs and create the iPlayMusic method. However, we are always open to feedback and suggestions. Please email us at feedback@iplaymusic.com with your comments. And thanks for your interest in iPlayMusic. |
